This is one of eight reflections from student UNESCO Ambassadors at Lyng Hall who were invited to the Cities of Remembrance symposium in Ypres and Dunkirk which took place from 20-27 May. An earlier blog describes the background in more detail and points to seven other reflections from the visit. This reflection covers the theme of responsibility and Emmanuel writes:
Responsibility
That’s something we’ve forgotten, the rise of dictators erasing the idea of justice, the irreversible damage done to the minds of the needy and desperate.
Two eyes connecting but only causing disarray and confusion.
Two geniuses blinding the world with their knowledge.
Days, months, years casting obsidian shadows of doubt, fear culminating into an amalgamation of temptation; making the public submerge into a lake of sin.
The remedy to this painting of wickedness; simple. A pure construction.
Every individual transitioning into an architect of peace.
Every citizen protecting the jade land each one of us nick-name earth.
Your mute facade does not aid in the fight for preservation; your silent persona only corrupts the memories that should be evolving us into a greater future.
The reliance must now shift to the ones with less than half of the experience but double the unique imagination that we need to craft something special.
Don’t look hide from the responsibility. Conquer it. Then and only then will the evil be destroyed instead of the liberty.
To cure the globe of a darkness by impaling it with swords of light.
